Happy First Day of Summer!
Although this photo isn't mine (courtesy of Webshots), I think it represents my view of summer. Well, at least my positive view of summer, since most of you know I'm definitely not a fan of the hot days. I'd like it to be cool all year long!
The heritage scrapbooking class at the Senior Center yesterday went very well, I think. It was kind of odd to see how the women seemed to be so interested in what I was telling them. I threw my passion about scrapbooking into my teaching, which is very easy to do when I'm trying to explain to newcomers of the hobby just how much fun it can be. Take away all the fancy stuff and get back to the basics of photos and stories, and it's just so cool! Yes, you can include the fancy paper and embellishments, but when you get down to it, it's all about capturing the memory, whether you have a photo or not. That was my message to the women yesterday. I told them there were no wrongs or rights, that no photos were necessary to capture the memories that they wanted to pass on to future generations. And that, in essence is my take on heritage scrapbooking. It doesn't involve only old photos; it is being able to take stories (including the ones from today), whether they were life events or even just small day-to-day things, and making a record of them to pass on to future generations. Needless to say, one of the students mentioned after class that I inspired them. That made the whole class for me! Of course, THAT alone is the reason I teach. I have a feeling it will be a fun class. It is definitely a nice change from the classes at the store!
Work...still just plugging away as usual. I think I've been programmed (by previous jobs) to finish stuff too quickly because I've always had too much to do. With my manager out yesterday and again today (she has a bad sore throat), I am left with trying to figure out how to look busy since the other manager is so swamped with getting the product ready for launch. Anyway, I have a bunch of stuff I could do--it's just that none of it is related to this job!
Off to go plow throw a "subset" of a presentation...do you care about RF/DC device characterization? LOL!Be sure to celebrate summer with something fun--even an ice cream cone!

Saturday was a little bit of a busy day for me. Kathy and I visited the Boxer Scrapbooks Tent Sale in the morning and found some great deals on some Boxer products, as well as some other manufacturers products that they decided to sell. (I'm guessing someone was trying to clean out their stash of scrapbook supplies!)
In the afternoon, Kathy, Susie, Charlie, and I went to Stamp Camp, where we made 15 cards--5 designs, 3 of each. Since Suzanne was under the weather, we made her cards as well. Here's a peek at the cards...
(I can't believe this is the only photo I took ALL weekend!) Cute, aren't they? Most of the time, 2 of us were working on the cards, with the 3rd keeping Charlie entertained. In all, we made 60 cards. They were fairly detailed, so it took us almost 3 hours for the camp. Not a bad way to spend the afternoon!
However, when we were done, we were starving, so we HAD to have an early dinner at Noodles. By the end of dinner, I think we were all ready for naps!
Unfortunately, I spent Saturday evening and part of today recovering from another allergy attack. It's amazing how the grasses here totally invade my system. All the medication I'm taking didn't work. Sneezing, itching, and a runny nose...so much fun. My nose definitely feels a little tender, even with using Puffs tissues! I wish the symptoms would have cleared up a little faster, although then I would have been tempted to attend a Strawberry Festival, which no doubt would have been outside--another chance for the allergens in the air to attack my system!
Okay, back to work on scrapbook projects. I have my monthly mini album class on Monday night and my heritage scrapbooking class starts on Wednesday afternoon, so I definitely have stuff to do, along with plenty of photos to play with. Hope you all had a great weekend and wishing you a great week!

Anyway, I can't wait to do my personalized version of this! That way I can use all sorts of travel-related items that aren't even sold at the scrapbook store!
Yes, another week of my life has gone by. I missed the whole Flashback Friday post, and I didn't even post anything about the weekend. Let's just say I've had a lot going on. ;)Last Saturday, we had the Crop for Cancer fundraiser at the store. A complete success of an event! Kathy did a great job with prizes and being the general emcee. The women were happy, I was more relaxed than I've ever been during an event, and most importantly, we raised a lot of money for the American Cancer Society. I'd say a win-win situation overall!Sunday, Kathy threw a BBQ at her parent's house for all three Relay teams. It was a fun time, until my allergy attack took over. I left after about an hour because my eyes were itching and watering, and I couldn't stop sneezing. The attack lasted until about Monday night. The worst part--I ran out of my prescription allergy medicine on Sunday, and the pharmacy wasn't open! So, several Benadryls later and the air conditioner running, most of my symptoms subsided. I haven't had an attack that bad in a long time. I was VERY happy when it started raining on Monday.Today has been one LONG day. I started my new contract position this afternoon--a last-minute change since I was officially supposed to start on Thursday. With this new start date, I only had this morning to wrap up a few things, such as signing my instructor contract to teach at the senior center for the Parks & Recreation Department. Four people have already signed up for my heritage scrapbooking class, and I'm starting to panic since I haven't finished the content for even the first class session. Guess what I'll be working on this weekend???I also dropped by the scrapbook store since we're having Customer Appreciation Night on Thursday from 6-9 pm. Almost 70 women had RSVP'd by 10:30 this morning. I have a feeling it's going to be a full house. And yes, I will be working along with the rest of the staff for this event. What fun that will be after putting in a full day at my new contract job!I figured I'd get a little time this evening (after spending almost 3 hours at the scrapbook store this evening) to take care of a few things, but then my third job of the day kicked in--a revision of an ad for a lawyer. All I can say is that I'm glad I'm only going to be juggling all this for 2 months. I'm not sure I can do this for a longer stretch of time! :DOh, the contract position isn't bad, but the first day is a typical first day. I spent my afternoon reading a bunch of data sheets and brochures on the current projects to give me a better idea of what kind of collateral I'll be in charge of for their product launches in July. I'll say one thing: probes are NOT exciting!Anyway, keeping busy obviously isn't going to be a problem. However, I think keeping my sanity might!Cool thing for today: as I was driving to the office for the Parks & Recreation Department, I smelled fresh bread. It turns out that the Parks & Rec offices are across the street from where they make Franz bread! It was pretty cool to see the loaves of bread going up the conveyer belt as I drove by. The staff at the Rec offices said that the smell is unbelievable when they make cinnamon bread. Boy, talk about making your mouth water!Have a great rest of the week--I highly doubt I'll be back before Friday!
