It Feels Like a Monday

I suppose it's because my weekend was a little extended, since I spent most of Monday out with Kathy, visiting the Tulip Festival and other haunts!

But, it's definitely a Tuesday since we had Sheri's class tonight at the store. Good class, I think, and we had a lot of sign-ups for Sheri's next class, plus I got 3 folks signed up for my mini album class next month (and I just got the sample done today--photos near the end of this blog post!).

Also had a bit of a mishap at the store today. The keys to the store slipped off my key ring (I have them on another ring that's linked to my main one), so I ended up locking us out of the store. Sheri had left her set of keys IN the store. The good part was that class could continue without any interruption. The bad part--I had to call Sam to get them, and she was at home relaxing for the evening. Boy do I owe Sam big time!

A good thing for today: I met Shelley for lunch--good eats at McGrath's! I also chatted with her about some possible freelance work and a business opp that I'm considering. Always good to meet with Shelley--she helps keep me rational and focused while being positive!

It's an album that looks like a purse, but opens up to an accordion album inside. Granted, the idea was not mine originally (borrowed the idea from a Rusty Pickle class I took at Convention this month), but the content and design are all mine!

Thoughts on a Sunny Sunday Morning

Josi (I'm pretty sure it was Josi!) sent me an article written by Kristin Armstrong (Lance Armstrong's ex-wife) that was published in Glamour in May 2006. Lots of working in the past week. I was a little burnt by Friday (and I got home around 10:30 after Thursday's class), so I spent a little time trying to catch up on things and watching DVDs: The Hills--Season 1 (don't even ask why this show intrigues me since the people in it are just so out of touch with real life--I think the disbelief that these people are real is what keeps me watching the train wreck), Gilmore Girls (Season 6 is the best), and The Holiday (really, really love this movie).

Yesterday, Kathy and I took a short road trip to Scattered Pictures and a new store called Paper Doll. SP was bigger than I remembered. It's interesting to see the product other retailers in the area carry, since each one carries some lines that the others don't. Paper Doll was intriguing. They have a class where you can take your photo and turn yourself into art. I'm considering taking this class, but haven't decided yet if I'll do so in April or not. I think it would be a cool technique to learn since I've been fascinated with turning myself into a Poppet.

Also had dinner with The Cinas at Old Spaghetti Factory last night, then ran into them and Glenn at Freddie's on the way home. It's amazing how much fun people in their late 30s have on a Saturday night! ;)

So for today, I've got pics of the album I finished for my mini albums class on Monday. Can't believe I already have a handful of sign-ups! So excited!!!

Today, while I was at the scrapbook store for our weekly meeting, I cruised a little afterwards, looking over the new things that came in over the last week. Boy, did I completely miss some stuff! I also found out that there were some new adhesives (two from Tombow) that I haven't tried yet. Unfortunately, one of them is completely sold out--and go figure, it's the one I really wanted to try since their current adhesive stinks as far as sticking!

Enough scrapbook talk for now. Still looking for a full-time job or additional projects to add to my freelancing. Too bad that passions don't always pay well!

The Day Is Not Over...

...so technically, I am still true to my word from yesterday--I am posting! :)

Continuing with my post from yesterday about the CK convention this past weekend...

I started off the convention with an album crop on Thursday night. Susie joined me, and we got to create this cute little album about our favorite things.

We didn't finish it during the crop since there were quite a few projects, and the first instructor spent WAAAAAY too long on creating the cover and first page. Oh, one thing to note--I didn't create the cover the same way that they instructor did. I know--the rebel in me!

On Friday, I had lots of classes. Kathy and I had the same schedule, and Susie joined us for several of the classes. A look at the projects...

Us gals with Tracy White, editor of Creating Keepsakes Magazine. Tracy taught an awesome class called Lucky Girl (see the tins we're holding?). She was extremely inspirational and very positive. Oh, and to help my "lucky girl" experience, I won one of the door prizes--the newest book from Becky Higgins, another famous scrapbooker! (Believe it or not, I didn't own the book before Friday!) Besides taking a photo with us, Tracy also autographed each of our tins.

Photo opp with Elizabeth Dillow, from Simple Scrapbooks Magazine. Kathy and I took her online class (via BPS). She was such a nice person--and so cute, being pregnant and all.

Elizabeth's project was an album about holidays. I haven't started the inside of this yet. (All the pages are black inside.)

There were a couple of other classes, but I didn't have the chance to finish the projects yet, so I'll post those at a later date.

On Saturday, I only had 2 classes. The first class was one that Kathy and I loved. It was a Rusty Pickle class about lessons learned from kindergarten.

The instructor was a bit ditsy (the same instructor from the previous day), but the project was fun. We actually completed the whole thing in the 2-hour timeframe.

My very last class wasn't too bad either. It was a mini album from Li'l Davis. The funny thing about this was that I ended up winning a gift certificate in the convention door prize for the Li'l Davis booth. So, although I thought I was done shopping, I still had $15 to spend in their booth--and they had a lot of stuff for only $1-$2.

Now, about the pic that I posted last night. This was the best goody of the convention! Rusty Pickle had an awesome deal that included a suitcase (an actual traveling suitcase) filled with their products. There were about 300 sheets of paper, chipboard letters, various embellishments, an idea book, and more in this one case. See for yourself!

There was also supposed to be a pink bathrobe, but I forgot to check for it when I took the box and suitcase (the items were in a separate box so they wouldn't be flung around in the suitcase). Anyway, the products will come in handy for a bunch of projects that I'm going to start working on...

Quite a weekend, wouldn't you say? I'm a little creatively exhausted. It was tough to finish the mini album for my class, but that's complete as well. I'll post photos of that tomorrow, after I take them.

Bad blogger--again! Quick notes...

Been busy the last couple of weeks, and I have a bunch of pictures to upload from this past weekend's scrapbook convention. To sum it up: great projects, a couple of outstanding instructors, met some nice people, and lots of fun scrapbooking goodies to play with!!! Drool...okay, I'll just post one pic...

Weather's been warmer than usual here. Not bad, but I do like the cold. :)

Went through three movies (2 bad, 1 just okay) in the last day and a half. Working on the fourth.

Beware the Ides of March

...or something like that. I can't remember at the moment where that comes from, except that it's some Shakespeare reference. How dare I call myself an English major?!?! ;)

My latest creation... This is for the kids class that's coming up on March 11. I was having a tough time only because I need to make sure it's easy enough for kids to do. As it is, some of the kids may still need a little help with tying the bows. Oh well...I can help with that.

I think I've been at the scrapbook store every day this week. I'm in serious need of a break that has nothing to do with scrapbooking--but only for a short while, like at least a day, LOL! I spent most of this morning working on updated signage, then I was there in the afternoon putting the signage in place. The in-store promos for the Karen Russell weekend are done--YAHOO! Now I just have another 3,827 things left to do for the store. OMG, did I even check the email account today??? Groan...

Caught up with Jen and Sal this week. Jen is seriously living the life of a swinging singles gal. :) Caviar and champagne?? I may just have to fly down and join her!!

So glad the week is over. Hmmm...starting to get hungry, so I'm going to end this post for now.
